Q.  How is Idaho TechConnect different from other economic and business development organizations and entities?
A.

As Idaho's only private-public business development organization, TechConnect focuses on the start-up, growth and success of innovation-based businesses.  These businesses make up less than 5% of the total business entities in the state but contribute more than 25% of the state's gross domestic product.  These businesses employ higher concentrations of science and technology occupations and pay 50 to 100% more in salaries and wages than the state's average wage (income).

Idaho TechConnect specializes in "connecting" new and existing innovation-based businesses to the resources and solutions that will allow them to be competitive in the global economy.

Q.  What does Idaho TechConnect do?
A.

TechConnect staff work to alleviate key business risks, including technological, product, competition, market and management. This is accomplished through the operation of the Goldsmith Model. The model, developed by Randall Goldsmith under a contract with the US Department of Energy in the 1980s, screens and assesses the economic feasibility and viability of a company's commercialization process for a product.
