By Jacob Mullins - Special to the Idaho Statesman; Edition Date 02/12/09: One of life's unfortunate ironies is that when you need something the most, that's often when it's hardest to acquire. You're thirsty on a jog, but miles away from a water fountain. You have a young family to support, but haven't reached your earning potential.

By Tac Anderson - Special to the Idaho Statesman, Edition Date 01/22/09: So far this column has been by, about and for people who have started or want to start their own company. I'd like to write this article for everyone else. Thankfully, business ownership isn't for everyone. The local economy needs good, talented people to work for companies. But we still need everyone to be an entrepreneur.

By Carolyn Harrison - Special to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer (Edition Date - 01/08/09): I'm a partner in The Harrison Group LLC, a marketing and sales company that specializes in technology commercialization. While attending a venture capital meeting in Sun Valley a few months ago, I heard about a group that meets once a month at Rembrandt's Coffee House in Eagle to discuss what seemed to be an interesting concept: a high-technology corridor west of Boise that extended from Eagle to Star - called the Eagle-Star Technology Corridor, or ESTech.

By Jonathan Bart - Special to the Idaho Statesman; Edition Date: 12/25/08: More than 200 cheering primary-school students had surrounded our car as soon as we entered the small village in a remote corner of Sierra Leone, West Africa. Each time the camera flash fired they cheered more loudly and edged closer to the camera. By the third picture the cheers were deafening.
